Hand held lighting is available in Incandescent, Fluorescent, and LED (Light Emitting Diode) formats.  Don’t bother with incandescent, unless you absolutely can’t afford the additional 20 bucks for fluorescent.  Incandescent are dangerous because of the heat they generate, and the slightest tap causes the bulb to fail. Fluorescents (especially Saf-T-Lite’s patented rough service fluorescent bulb) have long been the standard of the industry.  They burn much cooler, emit the same or greater light, and they are extremely robust.

LED trouble lights have been all the rage for the last few years, and rightfully so-While they are significantly more money (30-60% in some cases) they burn much cooler than the other two options, they are actually brighter than both (the LED technology has vastly improved over the last few years), and they last a hell of a lot longer-up to 20 years, depending on starts and usage.  My recommendation is to make the investment in LED. Of course we carry all options.

We have seen the EPA mandate specialty disposal of fluorescent office and home “long tube” bulbs, because they contain mercury.  Can trouble light bulbs be far behind? Make the investment in LED, and rest assured.
